The Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation (CPCF) is supporting Tyrone Hospital's healing mission through a $2,000.00 grant that it has awarded to Tyrone Hospital. The hospital will use the grant to purchase a bladder scanner.
The bladder scanner is a non invasive test that generates images of the bladder. It allows medical professionals to see the amount of urine that is being retained in a person's bladder. The additional information provided via a bladder scan is valuable in determining whether or not a patient needs to receive a urinary catheter or if a catheter that is in place can be removed. The scanner will enhance care and comfort for patients since the information it provides may help reduce the use of urinary catheters. Lower use of urinary catheters also helps to reduce catheter associated infections.
