Patient Safety & Security
Infection Prevention
As part of Tyrone Hospital’s ongoing infection prevention practices, good hand hygiene is recommended for
all individuals. Dispensers containing hand sanitizer are located in various areas within the hospital.
Individuals are encouraged to use the hand sanitizer as needed.
Non-Smoking Policy
For the health of our patients, visitors, and staff, and in compliance with the Pennsylvania Clean Indoor Air
Act (CIAA), Tyrone Hospital and other buildings on the Tyrone Hospital campus are non-smoking facilities.
Smoking is permitted, but not encouraged, outside the Hospital. A minimum distance of twenty feet should
be maintained from doorways, exits, windows or any area in which smoke could penetrate. Designated
smoking areas include the Solarium, the Gazebo and the picnic bench outside Materials Management.
Patient Valuables
Patients are advised not to bring valuables such as cash, jewelry or other items to the hospital as the
hospital cannot take responsibility for valuables retained by patients. It is suggested that any patient
valuables be sent home with family members. |
