Laboratory
Laboratory tests unlock important medical information that is pivotal to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of
disease. Specially trained laboratory professionals perform tests on body fluids and body tissues, interpret the results,
and help provide doctor’s with a complete picture of a patient’s health.
Tyrone Hospital provides an on-site laboratory that performs general lab testing including pathology, blood bank and
microbiology services. The laboratory is under the direction of a board certified pathologist.
Tyrone Hospital’s laboratory is accredited by the Joint Commission and operates twenty-four hours a day.
Physician orders are required.
Certain laboratory tests require the patient to fast, usually cholesterol and glucose. Your doctor should tell you to fast
when he or she gives you an order for testing and it should be marked on the laboratory requisition. Fasting means to
refrain from drinking or eating, except water for 12 to 14 hours before you have your blood drawn.
Outpatient laboratory testing is provided on a walk-in basis during the following hours:
