David Arbutina, M.D., FACS has launched the Breast Cancer & Women’s Health Institute of Central Pennsylvania. The Institute provides services to evaluate breast health, and provides guidance and support to women in need of treatment for benign or cancerous breast disease.
Dr. Arbutina is a board certified general surgeon with a focused expertise in breast cancer surgery. He is an expert in the field of breast cancer, an educator, and a leader in surgery who has dedicated more than twenty-five years of his career to the treatment of breast cancer. During his career, Dr. Arbutina has personally treated and cared for well over 1,000 breast cancer patients. He has been the primary investigator of several breast cancer research protocols with results published in peer review journals. He has also treated thousands of women with benign breast conditions and is known for his expertise in distinguishing between benign and malignant breast disease.
“Our top priority at the Institute is to provide personalized attention, allay fears, rapidly diagnose, and stage breast cancer,” said Dr. Arbutina. “We understand the sensitivity and angst that women experience when undergoing breast exams, surgery, or treatment for breast disease. We want to educate and empower women to make sure they get all of the support and assistance they require.”
The Breast Cancer and Women’s Health Institute of Central Pennsylvania offers a diverse array of services for women in the area including Screening & Diagnostic Mammograms, Breast Ultrasound, Cyst Aspirations, Breast Needle Localizations, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, Ultrasound Assisted Breast Biopsy, Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsies, Breast Cancer Surgery, Lymphedema Services/Therapy, Second Opinions for Breast Cancer Patients, and Nurse Navigator Services.
The Nurse Navigator provides personalized attention as an advocate through every step of a woman’s care and coordinates visits to surgeons or other physicians, mammography locations, lab test sites, hospitals, or other providers to meet each woman’s unique needs.
The Institute will also provide education and events focused around women’s health needs and interests.

Initially, the Breast Cancer and Women’s Health Institute of Central Pennsylvania is housed at Dr. Arbutina’s practice, which is centrally located in Tyrone, Pa on the Tyrone Hospital campus at 221 Hospital Drive, Suite 2. This fall the Institute will move to its new permanent location at the facility which is now under construction on the same campus.
