Bellwood Antis Public Library and Tyrone Hospital are co-sponsoring the 7th Annual Family Health & Safety Fair on Saturday March 2nd from 10 am to 1 pm at the Bellwood-Antis Public Library located at 526 Main Street in Bellwood.

A variety of give-away items will be provided. The Friends of the Library will also hold a refreshment sale during the event.
Events offerings from participating organizations are as follows. Tyrone Hospital: screenings-total blood cholesterol, blood glucose, anxiety, depression, information about Tyrone Hospital services, the Breast Cancer & Women’s Health Institute of Central Pennsylvania, proper disposal of medications, advance directives and concussion. Hospital staff invites children to bring their dolls, teddy bears or other special friends to receive a medical check-up. ProCare: grip strength, body mass index screening and functional movement screening. Home Nursing Agency: blood pressure screening. Lasser’s Shoe Fly: I-step digital foot scan screening. Blair County Early Intervention Agency: developmental screening for children ages birth- 6 years. IU8: health development screenings for children age 3-5 years. The American Cancer Society: skin cancer screening as well as information about the Northern Blair Relay for life event. WIC: resource information for women, infants and children. Family Resource Center: information on support services for families. Operation Our Town: fingerprinting and safety awareness information. Burgmeier’s: on site shredding of up to 25 pounds of personal documents per person. Blair County Dairy Princess Tiffany Phesant: information regarding the importance of milk and dairy products in our diet. Altoona Regional Hospital: respiratory screening. Inter-Municipal Relations Committee: how to recycle household chemicals & electronics. Home Instead: resources for in-home senior care. Penn State Extension: information on food preservation, canning and freezing. Center for Independent Living of South Central, PA: resource information. Udi’s: information on gluten free foods. Hope Center: information on community resources. Excelsior Fire Department: fire trucks on display and a chance to meet local fire fighters. Heaven Scent Search & Rescue Mantrailing Bloodhounds: bloodhounds on sight along with information about their services. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: information on scouting and community projects.
Free Car Seat Safety checks will also be provided at the Excelsior Fire Hall located at 399 S. 1st Street in Bellwood, Pa from 10 am to 1 pm. Car seat inspections will be provided along with assistance for proper installation. An evaluation of each seat for possible recalls will also be conducted.
