Featured speakers are Dr. A James Moser of BIDMC of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Amer Zukreikat of UPMC and Mr. Jack Andraka.

Dr. Moser serves as Executive Director of BIDMC's new Institute for Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, providing leadership, strategic vision and integration of programs in general surgery, surgical oncology and transplant surgery that are focused on the surgical treatment of benign and malignant pancreatic, hepatic and biliary diseases. He has advanced surgical training and is a leader in complex, advanced robotic and minimally-invasive surgical oncology including pancreatic auto-islet transplantation.

Tyrone Hospital was named a Top 100 organization in Central Pa by Pennsylvania Business Central, a regional business publication.

Nominees from a twenty-county region with more than 65,000 eligible candidates were considered. The final honorees were businesses that achieved a level of excellence, and had a positive impact on the region in 2012.

“The recognition confirms the amazing progress at Tyrone Hospital which includes high standards for quality or care and customer service,” said Stephen Gildea, Tyrone Hospital CEO.

Pennsylvania Business Central profiled Tyrone Hospital as a facility that has completely turned around under the impressive leadership of CEO Stephen Gildea. Tyrone Hospital overcame financial challenges, completely reinvented itself and has become a better and stronger organization. The hospital has become a top performer on quality measures that are used to evaluate the care provided by hospitals. Construction of a new medical office building on the hospital campus will soon be completed. Recent initiatives include the Breast Cancer and Women’s Health Institute of Central Pennsylvania, the UOComp program, an occupational health program offered in cooperation with University Orthopedics Center, and the Tyrone Fitness and Wellness Center that is being developed in partnership with ProCare Health & Fitness.

Mr. Gildea said the remarkable progress at Tyrone Hospital stems from the unwavering support from the hospital’s medical staff, employees, volunteers, Auxiliary, Foundation and the community along with strong working relationships with other area health providers.
